Woody Harrelson Officially Joins Young Han Solo Film

By  |

Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of the upcoming young Han Solo film.

The official announcement comes after a rumor circulated last week that talks were in the early stages that Harrelson would join the film. Those rumors also suggested that Harrelson’s role would be a mentor figure for Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo. The announcement today made no mention of who Harrelson’s character is or how he affects young Solo’s journey.

Harrelson is the fourth cast member announced for the Star Wars prequel after Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke. Glover will play Lando Calrissian while Clarke’s role has yet to be announced. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of The LEGO Movie and the Jump Street movies, and written by Empire Strikes Back and Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan and his son, the still untitled Han Solo movie is set to come out May 25, 2018.

After starring in The Edge of Seventeen, The Duel, Now You See Me 2, and Triple 9 last year, Harrelson will next be seen on March 24 opposite Laura Dern in the R-rated comedy Wilson from the director of The Skeleton Twins. After that, he plays the villain in War for the Planet of the Apes, which comes out July 14.
