Watch Louis C.K. Introduce His Secret Movie at the World Premiere

Fandango uploaded a video of Louis C.K. introducing his new movie at the Toronto International Film Festival to their Twitter account.

Nobody was aware the comedian wrote, directed and edited a movie over the summer, but he did. It’s called I Love You, Daddy, it was shot on black and white 35mm film by Louie cinematographer Paul Koestner in New York and it features C.K., Chloë Grace Moretz, John Malkovich, Rose Byrne, Charlie Day, Helen Hunt, Pamela Adlon, Ebonee Noel and Edie Falco in the cast. Nothing else was officially unveiled about the movie aside from the TIFF website calling it an “edgy comedy,” but the Los Angeles Times reported the film was about Glen, a successful television producer and writer in New York, and his daughter (Moretz).

The film had its world premiere at TIFF on Saturday. You can watch C.K.’s intro, via the Fandango Twitter page, below.

“I have a bunch of the crew here and most of the cast, but I want to introduce them to you after the film, because you’re the only audience that’s ever going to see this film clean with no idea what it’s about,” C.K. said. “You know some of who’s in it, but you will be literally the only audience in the world to see it this way.”

In the intro, he revealed the movie carries an original score and that will lend itself well to the theatrical experience.

“The score is all original, we did it in Abbey Road Studios in London with a huge orchestra, and so this is a movie that’s meant to be seen in a theater together as a community,” C.K. said before telling the audience to enjoy the film to a round of applause.

This will be C.K.’s third theatrical directorial effort after 1998’s Tomorrow Night (which never found a distributor until C.K. released it on his website in 2014) and 2001’s Pootie Tang. He also has screenplay credits on those films and two Chris Rock films, 2001’s Down to Earth and 2007’s I Think I Love My Wife. The comedian is also known for creating, writing, directing and starring in the television series, Louie, which ran from 2010 to 2015.

I Love You, Daddy has yet to have a distributor, but, if someone cops the movie at the festival, then it will hopefully be out in theaters by the end of 2017.
